The Importance of Using an ARLA Registered Lettings Agent

Dorset Property is a member of the Property Ombudsman Scheme and is a licensed member of ARLA (Association of Residential Lettings Agents), the professional body which sets and regulates the standards and levels of professionalism of its members.

The Lettings industry is unregulated and as such anyone can set up as a lettings agent. However, there is a myriad of legislation in place governing private residential lettings and if a landlord or his agent falls foul of the regulations either or both parties can be held responsible and fined.

With this in mind a lettings agent needs to make sure landlords are compliant with the law. ARLA has a strict code of practise that helps lettings agents keep abreast of the law in all things pertaining to letting private residential properties, including best practise in handling client monies, processes and legislation.

At Dorset Property it is compulsory for all our Property Managers to be either ARLA qualified or studying towards qualification. We also use an expert company, TFP (Training for Professionals), who specialise in lettings legislation and oversees all compliance for Dorset Property.

All our landlords are appointed a dedicated Property Manager, ensuring continuity and a single point of contact as well as providing peace of mind that they are letting their property within the laws that govern private lettings.
