Make Your House a Home

Just because you are renting doesn't mean you can't make your rented house a home! With a little bit of imagination there are lots of things you can do to make your living space homier.

Obviously you can't whip out a tin of paint and start painting the walls but you can make each room feel more complete and welcoming by matching colours to complement the existing colour scheme with things like curtains, rugs, cushions, picture frames and lampshades.  Also, remember removeable wall stickers are your best friend when renting a property, as they leave no marks on the walls and they are an easy way to personalise a room, especially kids' rooms.

If you are a dab hand at upcycling why not create some statement pieces to add a bit of retro style to each room.  If you want a bit of inspiration, our Residential Sales Manager, Victoria Waldron, is a bit of a whizz when it comes to upcycling and has created some fun pieces such as a briefcase coffee table, a vinyl record ashtray and a lamp made from a violin.  Light can transform a room and if that light is provided by an unusual upcycled lamp it can prove to be a talking piece for when you have guess as well as a brilliant illumination.

However, the one thing you need to remember when making your house a home is to make it about you.  Using items that evoke memories and choosing things that bring you joy will immediately make it feel more like home.
