Dorset Property: Coronavirus Guidance

With the spread of Coronavirus increasing we have a duty to act responsibly and minimise the risk to everybody; family, friends and colleagues.  With this in mind we would like to inform landlords, tenants and contractors of the steps Dorset Property is taking to limit the effects of Coronavirus.

As from today (Monday, 16 March 2020), and until further notice, all Dorset Property offices will be closed to the public and contractors.  Dorset Property staff will be working behind closed doors at each of our offices within Dorset.  However, should any staff member show signs of a new cough or temperature they will self-isolate as per government guidelines.  In most circumstances staff will deal with any business matters by telephone or email.

Routine Visits

All routine visits are postponed until further notice.  Virtual visits will be completed with the tenant over the telephone with a pre-prepared check list of questions to ensure everything is in order or any issues reported.

Checks and Certification

To maintain standards, any Gas Safety, EPC and renewals will be completed at the earliest opportunity.

Viewings

Viewings will continue at this stage, although property details will be discussed fully in the first instance over the telephone or via email.  When a viewing is arranged, all due care and attention will be taken to minimise contact with prospective tenants.  Dorset Property staff will not shake hands and, as per government guidance, will keep a safe distance throughout the viewing.

Move In's

For any tenants moving into a property, inventories will be booked in good time and completed in advance of the move-in date, again with minimum contact with the tenant.

Valuations

Valuations will continue with the landlord's consent following the due care and attention previously stated above under the heading, Viewings.

Contractors

If any property maintenance work is required then consultations with tenants and contractors will be carried out via telephone and email in the first instance to obtain permission from both parties before any instructions are issued to attend the property and carry out any maintenance issues.

If a contractor is instructed, they will be asked to wait outside the office and keys will be signed out at the door.

Stay safe and thank you for your patience and understanding.
