For those who didn’t get the chance to hit the rink during the festive season, Cool Coast Ice Rink at the Bournemouth International Centre is open until 19th February, the end of half term.
For dinosaur mad kids, they can get up close with life-size dinosaurs at the six-week Weymouth Dinosaur Trail and Dorset Museum in Dorchester is having a Dinosaur Sleepover. Led Jurassic Coast experts, there’ll be fossil polishing, arts and crafts, a fossil hunt and a film. The ticket includes hot drinks, biscuits and breakfast.
The Nothe Fort in Weymouth will be revisiting the 1940s with its World War II Week, featuring family fun activities and entertainment. Kids can experience what it was like to be an evacuee, spot enemy planes and try the assault course.
At Corfe Castle’s Royal Residents Family Quest you can explore the castle ruins to find hidden shields and learn more about the royal residents who called the castle home. From 11-19th February, kids can send their favourite teddy whizzing down a zip line and discover the gruesome story of King John.
2023 marks the centenary of The Tank Museum so you can expect cake, balloons and plenty of birthday festivities all week.
Kids will have fun hunting for hidden ladybirds and completing the minibeast quiz at the Walled Garden’s Bugtastic Trail in Moreton.
Durlston Country Park is hosting a variety of events throughout half term, including Wild Wednesday, a day of free craft activities.
February half term is an ideal time to explore Dorset’s stunning coastline, when popular landmarks such as Durdle Door will be much quieter. Whether you're a keen hiker or just looking for a relaxing stroll, visiting the world famous Jurassic Coast World Heritage site is a memorable day out. Walk along the South West Coast Path and gaze at the incredible views out to sea, or wander along one of the county’s many beaches for a spot of rockpooling. Give fossil hunting a go at Lyme Regis or Charmouth.
Dorset is bursting with historical sites and landmarks to visit with the family, such as Corfe Castle, with its fascinating ruins that date back to the 11th century. Alternatively, you can visit one of the many museums and art galleries in Dorset, such as the Dorset Museum in Dorchester, which tells the story of the county's rich history and heritage.
If you're looking for something a bit more active, why not take a cycling or horse-riding trip? Dorset is home to some of the most beautiful and varied countryside in the UK, and there are plenty of routes and trails to explore. Whether you're an experienced rider or a complete beginner, there's something for everyone.
For something more relaxed, you could check out one of the many gardens and parks in Dorset. Abbotsbury Subtropical Gardens features a wide variety of exotic and rare plants and flowers. Or visit Wimborne to take a stroll around the picturesque Kingston Lacy House and Gardens, the perfect place to spend a relaxing afternoon.
