From Easter egg hunts and trails at top attractions to music and theatre shows and scenic tours, there's no shortage of things to do across the county during the Easter break.

Easter Egg Hunts and Family-Friendly Activities
There are far too many cracking easter egg hunts and activities taking place across the county this year to mention them all, but we’ve listed a few here:

Music and Theatre Events
If you and the family love a panto, head to Weymouth Pavilion on Sunday 16th April to see Rapunzel starring Bobby Davro. Also showing on 16th April is Mother Goose at The Tivoli Theatre in Wimborne. On Thursday 6th and Friday 7th April, Sleeping Beauty will be showing at Bournemouth School for Girls.
At the Lighthouse in Poole, you can see The Tiger who Came to Tea (a classic!) from Tuesday 4th - Thursday 6th April or The King of Nothing on Tuesday 11th April.
For electronic music fans, Inner Love Festival will be taking place across seven venues in Bournemouth from Thursday 6th - Friday 7th April. The festival will feature over 50 DJs and live performers, as well as art galleries, workshops, music masterclasses and guest speakers.
Also in Bournemouth, on Easter bank holiday weekend you can enjoy delicious food whilst listening to live music and gazing at panoramic coastal views from Key West Bar & Grill on the pier.
Food and Drink Events
If you’re a foodie, there’s no shortage of events to whet your appetite in Dorset. Many of the food festivals are a little later in the year but Abbotsbury Food Fair is taking place on 8th April with free entry to the beautiful Subtropical Gardens. With around 30 stalls selling food, drink and crafts from across Dorset, visiting is a great way to support local businesses.
On Easter weekend (7th and 8th April) you can try over 35 ales from all over the country at Wareham Easter Beerex. There’ll also be local ciders and gin to sample. The ticket includes your first pint and a pint glass.
Walks and Tours
If you enjoy exploring an area via guided tours, there are plenty of options to choose from in Dorset.
Foot Trails offers a variety of walking tours in Dorset, designed to give visitors an authentic experience of our county’s stunning landscapes, charming towns and villages, and fascinating history. You can walk in the footsteps of Thomas Hardy’s Tess D’Urbervilles through north Dorset, including Shaftesbury, or gaze at spectacular views on an adventure along England’s first natural world heritage site, the Jurassic Coast.
Why not amp up your walk by following Dorset Treasure Trails’ easy routes whilst cracking clues and taking in fascinating sights. The Weymouth Treasure Trail takes around two hours to complete but there are 57 trails across Dorset, including Bournemouth, Corfe and Portland. With Murder Mystery, Spy Mission or Treasure Hunt themes to choose from, the trails make for a fun activity to do with the kids over the Easter break.
Here are a few more recommended walks across the county to enjoy this Easter:
Wimborne: The Wimborne Minster Trail is a 1.5-mile circular walk that takes you past the town's historic landmarks, including the 12th-century minster, the town bridge and the Model Town and Gardens.
Dorchester: The Thomas Hardy Trail is a 6-mile circular walk that takes you past several of the famous author's former residences, as well as through the countryside that inspired many of his novels.
Weymouth: The Weymouth Bay and Sandsfoot Castle walk is a 4-mile circular walk that takes you along the beach and through the town's historic harbour, before climbing up to the ruins of Sandsfoot Castle for views of the bay.
Blandford: The Trailway is a 14-mile walking and cycling path that follows the old railway line between Blandford and Sturminster Newton. It's a great way to explore the Dorset countryside and enjoy some fresh air.
Shaftesbury: The Gold Hill and Melbury Abbas 4-mile circular walk starts in the picturesque town famous for its steep and cobbled Gold Hill, which was featured in the Hovis bread advert. The walk takes you up the hill for breath-taking views over the Blackmore Vale, before heading out into the surrounding countryside and the village of Melbury Abbas.
Sherborne: The Sherborne Castles Trail is a 6-mile circular walk that takes you past the ruins of both Sherborne Old Castle and Sherborne Castle, as well as through the picturesque village of Castleton.
